Descrição
During our road trip to the Midwest, I discovered WFMT in Chicago. Even though I was in high school, I was interested in classical music radio. Thinking of a future career in radio. WFMT stands out in my mind against the backdrop of so many stations now available on the internet. Why listen to WFMT? I remember it from that trip. Writing to the stations that I logged during that trip brought me a mailbox full of information after I got home. WFMT was very generous sending a large folder of news clippings, this map and a few other things. Since those days, the transmitter has moved even higher to Sears Tower, now the Willis Tower. Back before the internet, a large coverage area was crucial if one wanted to get big city quality programming in the hinterlands. These days, signal range seems less important as fringe area listeners can just tune in on the internet. I sometimes tune into WFMT from here in Bellingham, WA.; on the internet.
