Vanitas is a member of the Thirteen Seekers of Darkness allied with the Friends on the Other Side, and an acting Blood Commander in their armies. He is the first Unversed in existence, having been created by Master Xehanort as part of his very plan to forge the X-Blade by forcing Ventus to fight against Vanitas and have the latter possess the former to gain enough strength to properly wield the ancient weapon. He currently serves as Xehanort's lieutenant and assassin in the Seekers' ranks.
