Quetzalcoatlus /kɛtsəlkoʊˈætləs/ (pronounced Kwet-zal-co-wat-lus or Ket-so-cah-watlus) is an extinct genus of large pterosaur from the Late Cretaceous of North America. It was a member of the Azhdarchidae, a family of advanced toothless pterosaurs with unusually long, stiffened necks. It is considered as one of the biggest known pterosaur species, alongside the Hatzegopteryx. There are two known species: the type species Q. northropi and its smaller counterpart Q. lawsoni.
