This chess pieces are inspired by Man Ray's lifelong friendship with avid chess player and fellow artist Marcel Duchamp. The re-edition of the 1920s Wooden Chess set is based on the original 1920 Man Ray Chess Set in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In this set, Man Ray translates traditional chess pieces into pure geometric forms. Chess pieces are milled from FSC certified beech wood, and then carefully finished by hand. -Chess pieces vary in size: King & Queen: 3.25 inches H Bishop: 2.75 inches H Knight: 2 inches H Rook & Pawn: 1.4 inches- Gift Box: 10 inches H x 18 inches W x 18 inches D- Chess board is also available separately. - Made in Germany - item # IC-MRCS
