THIS IS A RANDOM THEORY THAT I MADE. (I DONT KNOW IF SOMEONE ELSE MADE IT BEFORE ME OR NOT) I AM OK WITH NEGATIVE CRITICISM BUT PLZ DONT BE TOO HASRH. please read the whole theory before critisizing it. there probably would be plot holes in this theory. i think that shanks is a reincarnation of rocks d xebec, my theory starts at god valley = 1) rocks didnt technically die in fight against roger and garp, he has some kind of power or devil fruit and due to that, he somehow survived by reincarniating as baby but he lost all his past memories. 2) roger found him but he decided not to kill him because he has ethics to not to kill childrens. 3) after roger realise that rocks lost all his memories, he decided to raise him and make him a good human being. TIME JUMP 5) many years have passed (roger dies and luffy already ate the gomu gomu nomi) shanks started getting glimse of his past self but he couldnt understand it. after that as time passed shanks personality started changing and THATS WHY SHANKS PERESONALITY WAS DIFFERENT IN MARINEFORD COMPARED TO THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW. 6)shanks made some kind of a deal with the world nobles and he gave some important thing or information to the 5 elders and in return of that he wanted information about A CERTAIN PIRATE he is seeing in his glimpses who is non other than his past self i.e. ROCKS. 7) shanks may have gave 5 elders some signs or looks of that pirate and because of that the 5 elders figured out that shanks want information about ROCKS. 8) as a part of deal they had to tell shanks about ROCKS,with all that information shanks suddenly got all his past memories. 9) FROM THAT MOMENT OF SHANKS MEETING 5 ELDERS TO EVERY OTHER MOMENT WHEN WE SAW SHANKS IN ANI/MANGA, IT WASNT SHANKS, IT WAS ROCKS D XEBEC. HE HAS RETURNED. BUT NOBODY IN THE WORLD EVEN HIS CREWMATES don't KNOWS THAT SHANKS IS GONE AND ROCKS IS THERE ROCKS DREAM WAS TO BECOME KING OF THE WORLD AND THE FIRST STEP OF IT IS TO GET ONE PIECE. 10) HE saw luffys 3 billion bounty poster and said to ben bechmann that "its time to claim one piece". I THINK LUFFY OR HIS STRAW HAT is the key to achieve the one piece. SHANKS/ROCKS turns against luffy and also his own crewmates too at near end of the story but luffy doesnt want to fight shanks, later in that moment shanks probably tries to kill luffy but USSOP sacrifices himself to save luffy. then luffy makes alliance with shanks crewmates to stop EVIL shanks. THATS HOW SHANKS BECAME PROBABLY THE FINAL ANTAGONIST OF THE ONE PIECE. I WROTE THIS BECAUSE I FELT ITS A COOL THEORY.
