Play as a variety of Disney and Final Fantasy characters in “Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories” for the Sony PlayStation 2. The characters include Goofy, Donald Duck, and Jiminy Cricket. This game combines a role-playing adventure with a collectible card game. Cards are what primarily drive the plot forward, and battles are card-based. The role-playing aspect is where players increase the strength of their characters. The story in this game picks up right where the first game left off with the main character, Sora, and his group of friends trapped in Castle Oblivion. This 3D game is rated E, so it is suitable for everyone ages 10 and up. It features four never-before-seen mini-games. It's also compatible with some versions of the PS3 console. Each regional edition of Kingdom Hearts works with any PS2 console for the region it's branded to. Earlier PlayStation 3 models also work with this series. It has all of the content that the original “Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories” Game Boy Advance cartridge came with, but the developers packed in quite a few extras as well. If you liked the GBA version, you're going to love this remix of Chain of Memories. Each Kingdom Hearts character gets a speaking voice. The Kingdom Hearts design team tapped professionals like Haley Joel Osment and Leonard Nimoy to lend their voices. There are also numerous cut scenes that help to explain all of the action in Chain of Memories. The story takes place slightly before the adventure that Sora has in Kingdom Hearts II. Lord Marluxia might be responsible for people losing their memories, and so Sora is called upon to do battle across numerous Disney-inspired worlds to get everyone's memories back. Various cards have been made from the memories that Sora himself had. He's going to need every last card he can get to save the world and King Mickey along with it. Riku certainly seems laid back in spite of what's going on.Those cards are extremely important to collect in the Kingdom Hearts action RPG. Each card has a different ability, and the battle system is based around unleashing these abilities. If Sora has a number of cards in his hand, he chains these cards together to release powerful magic. Extra points are earned if the cards Sora uses are more powerful than those of his opponents. Like in any Square Enix game, he also buys an extra card or two from a friendly Moogle. He is able to use it against an enemy in the next fight if equipped.Riku has his own story in this original installment of Kingdom Hearts. All of the attacks Riku uses are different from those of Sora as well. He's selectable along with Riku in any of the miniature games inside of this PS2 title. Watch out, though, because Riku uses a dark card here and there to summon devastating powers. You need all the help you can get when you go up against Ansem. When you're ready for the miniature games, put this disc in your PlayStation and watch the time fly by.
