Hans Niemann beat Elshan Moradiabadi to score the only win of Round 10 of the Open section of the US Chess Championship. “I’m a competitive chess player on the path to becoming a World Champion,” was how Hans described himself after finding a knockout blow at the end of the game. The Women’s section was vastly more combative, but only Thalia Cervantes and Gulrukhbegim Tokhirjonova won to move within a point of the leader Jennifer Yu.
